Meet Archie
Archie Hurst is a professional trainer of American Saddlebred horses with over 50 years of experience.

He owns and operates Clover Leaf Stables in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. Living near Sherwood Park, Alberta, provides them with access to a picturesque region known for its equestrian communities and opportunities.
Archie shares his passion of horses with his family who also enjoy showing American Saddlebreds.
Archie's Story
Archie has owned and bred American Saddlebred horses since 1967.
As a third-generation Canadian Saddlebred Hall of Honour Member, he carries on a family tradition.​​​​
Clover Leaf Stables actively shows around 25 Saddlebred horses in Alberta and the United States annually.
Archie served as the coach of the Canadian Saddleseat team for ten years, showcasing his leadership and expertise in the field.
Archie has been actively involved in the equestrian community, particularly with a focus on Saddleseat riding and American Saddlebred horses. Serving on the board of directors for Equine Canada's Saddleseat committee for six years and has made a significant impact on the governance and decision-making processes related to Saddleseat activities in Canada.
Additionally, the fact that he has served on the board of directors for both The American Saddlebred Horse Association of Canada and Alberta for multiple terms shows a long-standing dedication to the promotion and management of American Saddlebred horses in both the national and provincial contexts.
Archie has represented Canada as the Canadian Representative for the International Saddleseat Equitation Association.​​​
Horses are a significant part of Archie and his wife Leslie's family life, involving not just their professional pursuits but also the activities of their entire family, including their two adult children.
Archie is actively involved in the world of horse training and riding instruction. Maintaining a busy training barn working about 25 horses per day.
Teaching around 60 lessons per week indicates a significant commitment to sharing his knowledge and expertise with riders. This involves instructing riders on basic riding skills, advanced techniques, equitation, and horsemanship. Coaching riders for recreation, local shows, and up to international competition allows Archie to share his diverse range of expertise in the equestrian world.

Archie's lifelong connection with Saddlebred horses is evident from the fact that he was put on a Saddlebred the day he was brought home from the hospital after birth.
